Grants for Welsh SMEs: Access Up to £75,000 for EV Charge point Installations

For Welsh small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) eager to make a transition towards a greener future, the UK government’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Grant offers a significant financial incentive.

Key Highlights

This initiative aims to support SMEs in reducing the cost of installing electric vehicle (EV) charge points and the associated infrastructure for staff and fleet vehicles.

The grant covers a generous 75% of the installation costs. Businesses can claim:

Up to £350 per charge point socket.

Up to £500 for each parking space equipped with the necessary infrastructure.

Eligible businesses can claim up to 5 grants, spread across 5 different locations, with the potential to claim up to £15,000 per site. This equates to a whopping potential saving of £75,000!

Do You Qualify?

The grant caters to businesses with a workforce of 249 or fewer. Whether your enterprise is registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC, you are eligible.

The property must be based in the UK, excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. The installed chargepoint is exclusively for staff and fleet vehicles, not for public use.

As a minimum, you must install one charge point socket and work on at least five parking spaces, preparing them for future installations if not immediately fitting them with sockets.

Each parking spot should be off-street, private, and well-defined, either owned by you or legally accessible to you.
