SCOPE OF WORK

At Viscose Closures, the project aimed to reduce the company's reliance on the grid by installing a solar array due to their high electricity usage as a manufacturing plant. The multi-phased project began with the installation of a 100kW solar array, fully optimised with Solar Edge power optimisers and a Solar Edge inverter, emphasising the company's commitment to sustainability.

CHALLENGES

As a manufacturing plant, minimising disruptions during operations was crucial. EV-Wales strategically conducted shutdowns out of hours, accommodating various shift patterns. The customer's request to showcase real-time array performance and carbon offsetting to staff and customers was addressed through successful implementation of the Solar Edge Kiosk function. Real-time system generation and carbon offset data are displayed on screens across Viscoes' office, reception, and break-out areas.

IMPACT

Implementing real-time generation visuals across the office has boosted staff engagement with the new array. Adjustments in shift patterns have been made to maximise utilisation of solar generation. Additionally, substantial savings on electricity bills have been realised. Plans are underway for the second phase of the project, focusing on further reducing energy bills, a testament to the success of the initial phase and the company's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
